Entity code: 77746d65

Threat type: Veilcutter (low, localized), Causal (theoretical), Flood (theoretical)

Kill orders: None, not applicable

Entity name: Lamb

Description: Female-presenting Animalia (Ovis)

Equipment: Standard humanoid containment cell

Sustenance: Vegan diet, custom, (OBSOLETE INFORMATION: according to the entity's requests) according to the assigned dietician.

Human contact: Freely permitted

Guidelines: In addition to the abilities of Ovis Animalia, Lamb is functionally permanent. The entity either does not age or its aging cycle is slow enough to not progress during its stay at the facility(OBSOLETE INFORMATION: and it normally remains in perfect mental and physical health). Lamb can be injured and will regenerate from injuries at normal speed. Lamb can be injured in a way that will cease biological processes of the Lamb's body. Doing so will invariably immediately create a new instance of Lamb that has just witnessed the act of "killing" the previous Lamb. The creation is retrocausal, as, for instance, the act of pushing a button that sets a timer which will trigger a gas nozzle filling a nontransparent, airtight box containing Lamb with chlorine will have been witnessed by the new Lamb as soon as the old Lamb "dies", even though no two "alive" Lambs ever exist simultaneously and no Lamb is present in the control room as the button is pressed. From the point of view of the new Lamb, their timeline diverges from the original - if one were to decapitate Lamb sitting down on a chair with an axe, the new Lamb may claim they stood up seconds ago to get water. Timelines involving Lamb being absolutely immobilized before "killing" diverge prior to immobilization. The new body of Lamb will not have any physical or mental aliments not inflicted by Lamb. There is a theoretical Flood threat inherent in the replacement process: new Lamb being created in the same situation that "killed" the old Lamb, repeating the process infinitely. The "kill-loop" situation is, however, highly unlikely to occur under the current guidelines, and most scenarios where a kill-loop could plausibly occur are also self-terminating, such as a crater of an active volcano being eventually blocked by tens of thousands of corpses.

New Lamb will be created with exact duplicates of all things worn or held by Lamb, which includes the contents of the pockets on their clothing, the contents of any bags, etc. The duplicates differ from the originals in one way, only noticeable after the fact: after precisely 24 hours pass from the moment of the duplication, the duplicate instantly ceases existing. This extends to hydration and nutrients already absorbed by the body, with obvious results, therefore: at no point is Lamb permitted to duplicate food or drink, and, if this happens, at no point is anyone but Lamb allowed to consume said food or drink (CORRECTION: unless the duplication has been authorized with the intent of producing food or drink capable of this effect when consumed).

A duplicate of a duplicate has its separate 24-hour clock. Some objects currently possessed by Cover corp. are unique by their nature and there is immense value in having an arbitrary amount of copies of it, particularly to be handed out to field agents; there are others whose originals have already been lost in one way or another, and exist purely via extending the duplication timer in its entirety. Hence the utmost importance of using the replacement process to create further duplicates. All duplication timers for objects whose originals are no longer obtainable are to be logged to prevent a permanent loss of all instances.

The bodies of Lamb do not dematerialize and need to be disposed of in the usual ways.

Lamb differs from the median human in having a significantly, almost unrealistically brighter psyche, and is seemingly unaffected by repeatedly witnessing events visually resembling their own death, but there are mounting concerns that this is a facade to some extent. Still, the replacement and duplication process is integral to the functioning of the Cover corp. and, in some sense, society at large, and will have to continue regardless of Lamb's possible future unwillingness to participate in it. The process of counteracting the effect of the reduplication process on Lamb's psyche is nonetheless ongoing, and all Cover corp. employees or freelancers that passed necessary psychological screening are free to participate in it in their free time. All of Lamb's requests, within reasonable bounds and within budget, are to be fulfilled.

As all permanent entities, Lamb is of interest to the Hands Across Eternity project, but any ways of having their permanence duplicated or transferred to other subjects, if any exist, are currently unknown. As all infinite sources of nutrient generation, Lamb is of interest to any projects dedicating to solving hunger. It is currently unknown whether matter composing Lamb's body is generated by the replacement process or taken from elsewhere, so the usefulness of it for large-scale anti-entropy efforts is unknown.

According to most sources, counterintutively, Lamb flesh tastes significantly closer to pork than mutton.
