Toxic Queen [Ashley Tervort]

Gustav entered his friend’s car in a huff, “You couldn’t have gotten me any other clothes? Maybe a shirt?”

Calvin waved his hand dismissively, more concerned with tossing their luggage in the backseat, “C’mon, man, she didn’t exactly leave behind her entire wardrobe. You look fine. Besides, it’s supposed to be boiling all week. You’re gonna be thanking me.”

“‘Fine’?” Gustav was surprised how much that stung, “It’s not [tpb]my[/tpb] parents we’re impressing. They’re gonna be so proud of their son, dating the slut.”

Calvin snapped at that, “Well, maybe that will distract them enough from your bitchy attitude!”

“Ooh, such a charmer, no wonder Gina dumped your ass to the curb.” Gustav’s words were soaked in venom as he turned to sulk out the window.

Calvin silently started the car, his face going blank, much to Gustav’s regret. He normally was a pretty chill guy, yet here he was, sniping at his close friend. 'Well, maybe if he actually thought ahead…' the thought floated into his head before shaking it off. 'Focus, man. This isn’t you; that’s the Medallion talking.'

Calvin had called Gustav the night before in a panic, raving on about forgetting his family reunion and how he needed Gina there to keep everyone off his back for being a “dateless loser”. His girlfriend broke with him a few weeks back, and with how hard it hit him it was no surprise the reunion slipped his mind. Gustav had no idea how he could possibly help, but he went over to Calvin’s place. The second he showed up, Calvin chucked a woman’s sweatshirt at him, followed by a heavy, metal disc. It was a medallion of some sort, beautifully engraved, but scratched up and cheap-looking, but he didn’t have much time to inspect it before he was zapped with a mild electric shock. Within a few minutes, Gustav shrank in places and grew in others, and soon became the spitting image of Gina, down to the makeup and painted nails. “That’s one way to get a date, I guess…” was all Gustav could manage, still in disbelief.

Ever since his transformation, Gustav didn’t feel like himself; he could tell he was on edge. He just hoped he could get his act together soon: it was a four hour drive in a cramped car, followed by days of holding court to endear himself with Calvin’s extended family. The whole thing sounded exhausting, but for Cal? He could stomach it for Cal.

Meanwhile Calvin shifted in his seat, trying to focus on driving and not the growing bulge in his pants. He wasn’t a fan of Gina’s mean girl temperament, but bickering with someone who looked- and kind of sounded- like the woman he loved was kicking up a lot of feelings, in a twisted way. Calvin had no ulterior motives in recruiting his friend to his scheme, but there was a small, lovesick part of him that was looking forward to spending some quality time with “Gina.”[tpb][/tpb]
