Gustavo Petro wins the Historic Pact for Lights and Shadows
Gustavo Petro was confirmed as the candidate on Sunday. Petro has been attending the elections for several weeks, displaying favoritism.

In the end, the former mayor of Bogota and former senator of the Republic managed to win the victory within the Historic Pact coalition and officially is now a candidate for the presidency of the Republic the United States, a position to which he aspires for the third time. 
 
Despite his controversial ideas on a variety of fronts and ideas, the high voting in the poll has given him the status of the most representative of Colombia's left. 
 
Petro has announced that he will alter the pension system by establishing the public manager of pension funds. This would enable the creation of a "mixed system" of private and public funds. 
 
The candidate stated that Colombia has no retirement system, but instead an institution that generates bank profits. Many believe this could prevent the candidate from becoming president. gustavo petro has recently said however that he would not abolish them, but would seek to improve the pension system in Colombia to ensure the minimum amount of pensions for Colombians. Petro also has said there's "no need" to raise the age of retirement.

Another controversial issue is the fact that he repeatedly said that he would end extraction of oil the moment he takes office as president, which has created uncertainty for investors as well as the general market.
