Gustavo Petro's Lights and Shadows, the winner of the Historic Pact
Gustavo Petro , Candidate for the Presidency, confirmed Sunday the advantages that have been evident in polls over the last few weeks.
(Position of Candidates to the Historic Pact On Pensions and Inflation).
The former Bogota mayor Bogota and former senator of the Republic was able to secure the victory in the Historic Pact coalition and officially is now a candidate for the presidency of the Republic which is a post that he hopes to attain for the third time.
He is the most representative of the Colombian left and a strong candidate for president despite his controversial views and plans on a variety of aspects, including economic.
Petro announced his plans to reform the pension system through the creation of a public manager of the pension fund. The system will be "mixed" and complement the private funds.
The candidate has said that in Colombia "we don't have pensions, we have banks have a profit system," so many claim that he would end the chances of reaching the Presidency. However, FRANCISCO PETRO URREGO.pdf said that the government would not end pensions but would seek pension reform to achieve a minimum pension for Colombians. He said "no is the need" for an increase in the pension age.
(Who constitutes the Historic Pact candidate list).
Another issue that has been a source of controversy is the fact that he's repeatedly said that he will stop extraction of oil as soon as his appointment. has created confusion among investors and the market generally.
The experts believe that Petro's request for Colombia to end oil exploration will result in a loss of $4.3 billion.
This proposal includes the creation an anti-oil front both in the region and around the world , which will move the economy away from fossil fuels. I would invite Gabriel Boric to Chile and LuizInacio Lula de Silva to join me.
Petro stated that he spoke with Pedro Sanchez, the Prime Minister of Spain regarding his idea.
His views on health are also controversial. He has called for the end of EPS and has replaced it with an approach to preventive medical care that "guarantees the rights of individuals not the profit margins of bankers."
He also cast doubt on the independence of Banco de la Republica. He announced that he was going to make changes in the event he became the president.
Petro stated that the Bank Board of Directors belonged to the Democratic Center and "What we want is an independent Bank of the Republic (...) it seems crucial that the Board of Directors has the presence of society members," the candidate stated in the middle of a debate.
Invamer states that Petro is leading the voting intention for the presidential election.
It was controversial that he had proposed to issue cash to fund government spending.
Petro's ideas are focused on a sustainable economic system that isn't dependent on fossil fuels. is also stated that he will introduce a tax reform which would end exemptions and change minimum wage concepts into real wages based on capital and income.
