Neve Paritzki (נווה פריצקי)Jerusalem opens the first Israel-wide cycling tunnel.

The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique riding experience and hiking experience which is loved by everyone. 
In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated. 
 
The tunnel links Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. Its southern entrance is located below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. The northern entrance can be located in Nahal Ein Kerem. 
 
The 2.1-kilometer long tunnel was opened on Thursday by Jerusalem and the heritage minister Ze'ev Elkin and Moshe Lion, the Mayor. Moshe Lion. Avi Baleshnikov of Gihon the chairman of Gihon as well as a multitude of cyclists were also in attendance. 
 
"In the past, Jerusalem was an attractive city for tourists due to its rich past. Elkin said that, today along with its historical treasures, the tunnel project also encompasses modern day tourism. "The launch (of the tunnel) is a further step in the growth of Jerusalem and its transformation into a desirable tourist city for all sorts of audiences in Israel as well as around the world."

I invite cycling enthusiasts to come and enjoy an up-to-date and well-maintained cycling route that offers a view of the unique landscape of Old Jerusalem." 
 
Elkin's Ministry and the Tourism Ministry budgeted the project. 
 
 
Elkin stated the fact that "The Kerem Tunnel Project is a central tool to realize the goal to redefine the idea of transport in Jerusalem." "The new tunnel will connect to the Jerusalem Ring Path. It will be connected to the many cycle paths already within the city. They will be laid throughout the city's diverse neighborhoods. The objective is to encourage cycling among residents of Jerusalem. 
 
The Kerem Tunnel, originally excavated by the Gihon Corporation in the 1990s in order to move its main sewer line to Sorek's purification plant. 
 
"The Kerem Tunnel project is a central tool to realize the goal of transforming Jerusalem's transport model. " 
 
Jerusalem Mayor Moshe León 
Construction of roads installation, blowers, advanced safety systems , and electrical wiring are all part of the ongoing work. The tunnel is safe for the people to use all year. 
 
The Kerem Tunnel also allows access to unique recreation sites - including the Ein Kerem neighborhood, the biblical zoo, aquarium and the along with the historic natural springs in Ein Laban and Ein Haniyeh.
