Get Minecraft In Its Full Version. Minecraft Running On A Raspberry Pi

Raspbian is installed on your Raspberry Pi. This will enable you to locate Minecraft Pi under the Games section. Minecraft Pi is a stripped-down version of the well-known survival game. It's designed to teach users a variety of programming languages.

Sure, it's fun, but it's not the Minecraft game we've come to recognize and enjoy. As with all things Raspberry Pi, a group of gamers have found out how to install the full version of Minecraft on your Raspberry Pi 2 or 3.

There's plenty to edit and tweaking using files and Terminal commands, as with everything else on the Raspberry Pi. It is recommended to take your time and read through each step.

Remember that before you dive in, there's certain things you need to be aware of:

You will require your Mojang account login information and your Minecraft username.

You'll need a paid Minecraft license. Minecraft.net offers a way to purchase one.

The guide is only applicable to Minecraft 1.8.9. You are able to continue using the current version of Minecraft 1.8.9.

While Minecraft isn't the most enjoyable experience on an expensive computer, it is definitely possible to play it.

Plan on spending an hour getting everything up and running.

I suggest opening the guide on the browser on your Raspberry Pi and then putting the Terminal window alongside it. You'll need to download altered log files from Dropbox. I don't want to post the commands here only to have them modified later.

The process is simple it requires you to copy Terminal commands from your browser, and then paste them into the command line. After you've pasted each command you press enter on the keyboard and your Pi will take care of the rest.

Tips to help make the process more smooth

Step 1 doesn't apply to Raspberry Pi 3 users. It is not possible to currently overclock the Pi 3 The Pi 3 is faster than the Pi 2 out of the box.

After you've completed Step 4, press the Arrow keys to highlight Advanced options. Next highlight GL Options, select Enable.

Step 7 in the guide confused me. It says to click "edit profile", but you actually have to click Profile Editor and then double-click on the first listing. Under Version Selection click on the drop-down next to Use version and select a build number. The default guide is 1.8.9. At the moment, you can use this version, and we can switch it once everything is working.

Step 10 requires you to edit "run.sh" without any further instructions. To do this, open the Minecraft folder located in your Pi directory and right-click the run.sh file, and then select Text Editor.

To start Minecraft, you have a two different options. To launch Minecraft it is recommended to follow the instructions. advise you to use "./run.sh". While this is a good option, you must type "cd Minecraft", before entering the command. Jasonotto.net is to open the Minecraft folder and double-click the run.sh file. After that, you can select "Execute."

Start the latest version. Now you can begin to play with the installation. To upgrade to the latest Minecraft version, you'll need to relaunch Minecraft.jar.

Enter CD Minecraft in a terminal window

 Next, enter: java -jar Minecraft.jar

Click on Profile Editor, then change the version to 1.9.4 (or whatever the latest version is).

Save your changes and then click the Play button, forcing Minecraft to download the most recent version.

 Next, open the Minecraft folder.

To avoid any problems if you commit a mistake, you should make backups of the run.sh file. Change the name to "runcopy.sh".

Make sure you have an image of the file. Then, right-click on it and choose Text Editor.

Press Ctrl-F on your keyboard, and then type 1.8.9 in the text field. There should be twoonly twoinstances of Minecraft found. Each of them should be replaced with the latest Minecraft version (this should be in line with the version number you chose in step 3).

Save the file, then reboot your Raspberry Pi.

Launch Minecraft as you normally would and enjoy.
