The Kerem Tunnel is a great spot to hike and ride. 
The Kerem Tunnel is the first bike tunnel to be constructed in Israel and was inaugurated as part the Jerusalem Ring Path, a 42-kilometer cycle route that circles the capital. 
 
The tunnel is a link between Nahal Refaim and Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entrance is below Ein Laban in Refaim Park. נווה פריצקי The northern entrance is located in Nahal Ein Kerem. 
 
The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was inaugurated in a ceremony on Thursday , attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'evElkin, Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov as well as hundreds of cyclists. 
 
The city's rich history was a reason that it was the most visited tourist attraction during the time of its glory. Elkin said that today in addition to its historical treasures it is also home to modern-day travelers. "The inauguration of this tunnel project [is] another element of the development of Jerusalem. It makes Jerusalem an attractive tourist place for any kind of crowd in Israel, and worldwide." 
 
 
Elkin who's ministry spearheaded the project along with Jerusalem Municipality stated that his ministry has invested thousands of shekels every year in the development of Jerusalem's tourism and also in the creation of new activities and ventures that will connect the magnificent historic past with the the future of Jerusalem. I invite cyclists to enjoy the modern, well-maintained cycling route overlooking the unique scenery of Old Jerusalem. 
 
The project was financed by the Elkin's Ministry as well as the Tourism Ministry. It also included budgets for the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation. The work was completed by the Jerusalem Development Authority. 
 
Elkin stated that the Kerem Tunnel project was a crucial element in achieving the goal of altering the way of transport throughout Jerusalem. "The new tunnel will be connected to the Jerusalem Ring Path. It will connect with the various bicycle paths that are already in the city. These will be paved within the various areas. The goal is to encourage cyclists in the city. 
 
In the 90s in the 1990s, in the 1990s, Kerem Tunnel was excavated to move the main sewer line from Gihon Corporation to the Sorek purification plant. It is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel and houses the fifth water line that connects to Jerusalem by the Mekorot water company.

Road construction, installation , and testing of electrical and safety systems are some of the ongoing works to ensure the tunnel is safe for all seasons. 
 
The Kerem Tunnel gives you access to a variety of places to relax, including Ein Kerem Neighborhood, the Biblical Zoo and Aquarium as well historic natural springs Ein Haniyeh or Ein Laban.
