Neve Paritzki (נווה פריצקי)Jerusalem: Israel's First Cycling Tunnel opens

The Kerem Tunnel provides a unique adventure in hiking and riding that is to be enjoyed by everyone. 
The Kerem Tunnel, Israel's first bike tunnel, opened as part of the Jerusalem Ring Path. This 42-kilometer cycle route is located around Jerusalem. 
The tunnel runs along the Nahal Refaim-Emek Motza route. It has a southern entrance located in Refaim Park. Ein Laban is the closest. Nahal Ein Kerem is the northern entrance. 
On Thursday, Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin, Mayor Moshelion, Avi Baleshnikov, Gihon chairman and hundreds of cyclists were present at a celebration to inaugurate the tunnel's 2.1-kilometer-long length. 
Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction because of its rich past. The Kerem Tunnel was first excavated in the early 1990s in order to shift the main sewer line from the Gihon Corporation toward the purification plant in Sorek It is situated just west of the city. It is currently used as an infrastructure tunnel. It also includes the fifth water line that connects to Jerusalem of the Mekorot water company.
