In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

Jerusalem's glorious past was a reason why it was a popular tourist spot in the past. Elkin said that, today as well as its historic treasures, the tunnel project also includes modern tourism. I would like to invite cyclists to ride along a a well-maintained, modern cycle route, which overlooks the stunning landscape of Old Jerusalem. 
A total of NIS 25 million were invested in the project, budgeted by the Elkin's Ministry, the Tourism Ministry, the Jerusalem Municipality and the Gihon Corporation and the Jerusalem Purification and Sewerage Works, and the work was carried out by the Jerusalem Development Authority. 
Elkin said, "The Kerem Tunnel project will be the central tool in achieving our goal to change the way transportation is conducted in Jerusalem."
